“It’s definitely a good thing. I’ll talk with you later about it,” she said, heading for the elevator doors.

James’ thoughts were then interrupted as Yung Gunner’s manager stepped up to his desk. “I’m here to see Chase Montgomery.”

“You must be Yung Gunner’s manager,” James said, still a little preoccupied with thoughts about Brooke. The guy nodded his head up and down. “Chase Montgomery is on the second floor. The elevator is right there,” he said, pointing to where Brooke was heading. “Follow her. She’s heading in the same direction.”

He then picked up the phone to let Chase know that he had two people headed up to see him. As Chase answered the phone, Jeremy called out to the guy. “Aye my man, what’s your name?”

The guy turned to face him and then said, “Quincy Hollister.”

“Yung Gunner’s manager, Quincy Hollister, is here and so is Brooke,” James told Chase, and then he put the phone back on the receiver, as if his job was done.

Just as Brooke entered the elevator and pressed the number two button, a hand stopped the elevator doors from shutting. Brooke’s eyes widened from shock as she came face to face with the man that had broken her heart, while taking her dignity with him.

“Q,” she whispered in utter disbelief, as he looked at her with a wide smile on his face.

“Daaamn,” Quincy responded, certainly caught off guard by seeing her beautiful presence. “Brooke…” he said, as the elevators doors shut with only the two of them inside of it.

  Chapter 2

Quincy, without a second thought whatsoever, invaded Brooke’s personal space with his eyes peering down deeply into hers. His hands gently caressed her neck as he brought his face down to inhale her enticing scent. His nostrils flared as the intoxicating scent of her perfume tickled his nose. Brooke stood like a statue, overwhelmed with fear. However, as she stood there gazing at the Kingpin she once loved, a tiny part of her was excited to see the man that had once owned her heart. Her chest heaved up and down, causing her perky boobs to bounce against Quincy’s chest. The feel of his warm hand caressing her neck intensely turned into a tight grip, like he was about to choke her. His face rested in the crook of her neck as he heatedly thought about how she’d done him before she left California.

“Q, please don’t do this,” Brooke nervously whispered. She was now feeling more anxious than ever to get away from Quincy. Unfortunately, the elevator seemed to take its dear time getting them to the second floor.

Quincy’s grip closed in tighter around Brooke’s neck. “Where the fuck is my money, bitch?” he whispered harshly into her ear. This was the man that she knew of. The man that treated her like she was everything, but then could turn in a blink of an eye and be cold as ever. Even though a sick part of her enjoyed it, she could never understand how Quincy could watch another man fuck his woman and get pleasure out of it.

Luckily for Brooke, the sound of the elevator doors opening made Quincy back off of her like nothing had happened. Brooke took in a much needed breath as her ex-man stepped out of the elevator in a very smooth manner while dusting himself off. He was rocking a cream Armani suit with a few iced out pieces dripping down his neck. Business man or not, Quincy was a hood nigga and, the minute he saw Brook, thoughts of her betrayal came back to remind him of the whore that she really was. He glanced back over his shoulder at her with a devious smile on his face and then said, “We’ll meet up again Ms. Brooke.” His swag was like no other as he walked down the hall towards Chase’s office. He had to get his thoughts together because even though Brooke had did him dirty, it was something about her that still held his interest. He had to admit that she was still bad as hell. Her body and her beauty seemed to have gotten sexier over time.

Quincy pushed the thoughts of his ex-woman to the back of his head as he stood outside the door in front of Chase’s office. He glanced around him, noticing that the building’s décor was nicely furnished throughout and smelled of new money. Then, he noticed the sign on the outside of the door that read, Chase Montgomery.

He got his name all on the door and shit. He must be the real deal or just serious as hell about his business, Quincy thought, as he took in a deep breath and adjusted the diamond cufflinks on his Armani suit. He knocked on the door lightly.

“Come on in!” Chase called out, the minute he heard the light knock. Quincy eased the door open and made his way inside the modernly decorated office. Chase was standing up behind his large oak wood desk as Quincy swaggered over to him.

Quincy displayed a smile as he accepted the outstretched hand of Brooke’s child’s father. He’d made sure to dig into the backgrounds of the people that he set his artist up with. He still had strong ties to the streets of Los Angeles. He didn’t become a King pen overnight and, although he had a plethora of successful businesses, he stayed true to his roots. Besides that, Brooke owed him some money. The minute he’d found out that her baby’s father was the owner of the hottest new recording company in Atlanta, the decision to cash in on what was owed to him came into play. For now, he’d decided to go about things differently, especially if he could cash in on Yung Gunner. However, Brooke was still going to get what was coming to her. He was going to milk her for everything he could think of, and then exploit her whorish ways.

“It’s a pleasure to meet you, man. I’ve heard nothing but great things about Yung Gunner,” Chase said with a pleasant smile, as he sat down and leaned back in his leather chair. He nodded his head as he thought of the many videos he watched of Yung Gunner on YouTube. Chase had spent hours binge watching the young artist showcasing his talent, while partaking in numerous ciphers with other local artist. He even had a few low budget videos out that showed Chase just how hard he was ready to grind in the music industry. With the production of him and Jeremy, Yung Gunner could be the next best thing coming out of A-town records.

Brooke stood looking in the bathroom mirror with her eyes casted down at the marble countertop. Her eyes were misty, but she was doing her all she could to hold in the threatening tears waiting to come out. Her stomach was bubbling and pure fear took over her. Her mind went rampant with thoughts of Quincy popping up to see Chase. It could have been nothing more than a business meeting, but in her frail state, she wasn’t falling for that. Quincy was only in town to get back at her and she had no way of it. Chase had no recollection of her scandalous past. Even though, she mentioned her ex in a letter that she’d sent Chase a few weeks back. She only spoke of Q and not Quincy Hollister. She did that on purpose, so Chase would never dig in her past and learn of her shameful history. Being linked to Quincy Hollister was not a good thing. He was known for being a successful business man and a legend in the streets of Los Angeles, but his past was just as raunchy and raw as hers.

Brooke reached over and grabbed a few of the paper towels from the electric machine on the left side of her. Her body moved stiffly as she used the paper towel to wipe her neck. Brooke felt as if Quincy’s cold hands were still wrapped around her neck.

Had the elevator not stopped he would have probably choked me to death, Brooke thought as she shook her head. It pained her to see Quincy. He was still the handsome man that stole her heart. Nothing about his appearance had changed and it brought back all of the memories Brooke had of the two of them.

“I can’t believe he’s here,” Brooke spoke out loud, as her head shook in disbelief. She reflected back on the brief conversation she had with her sister, Sasha. Her sister had informed her about Quincy asking about her whereabouts. It was easy for Brooke to brush it off but, at this moment, she was hoping she’d had taken her sister’s words that day a little more seriously.

Now, she was hiding out in the bathroom two doors down from Chase’s office, as he conducted a meeting with the only other man besides himself to completely break her down. The irony of the two of them together caused Brooke to chuckle in the midst of the crazy shit she played a key role in. Brooke tossed t
he paper towel in the trash can and patted her flat stomach. She stood straight and lowered her eyes as her sexy reflection caused a small grin to appear on her face. She was down and out at the moment, but with the fresh news of her pregnancy still dampening on the new relationship of Rayne and Chase, she had something to smile about.

Brooke found it cute how Rayne did her best to seem unfazed by the news. Brooke was hoping Rayne would burst into tears or curse at Chase but neither happened. She didn’t break like Brooke wanted her to, but Brooke was only in the beginning stage of her ultimate quest to end the relationship of her baby daddy and his singing bitch.

Brooke strutted out of the bathroom and walked fast in her heels with her sight set on the elevator. She pressed the button as her heartrate began to rise once again. She wasn’t sure if Quincy’s meeting with Chase was over, but she was sick and tired of hiding out and waiting for him to be gone. Instead, she decided to make a run for it and made a mental note to meet up with Chase later, when he would be able to give her and their unborn child his undivided attention.

Brooke walked out of the elevator and into the lobby, where James was still sitting comfortably at his desk. His eyes met hers and he looked at Brooke, as if he could sense the uneasy feeling that engulfed her.

Brooke threw on a fake smile upon seeing the expression on James’ face. She didn’t want him prying about anything, so she turned her attention to the door and made her way there.

“Are you ok, Brooke?” James asked her.

Brooke only responded with a nod of the head and didn’t stop walking. Her breathing and heartrate didn’t resume to a normal rate until she was in her car and reversing out of the parking space she was in.

James had made his way to the door and he held it open as he gave Brooke a weird look. He threw his hands up and wondered what had gotten into Brooke. Her whole demeanor was different from when she first entered the doors of the studio. He didn’t get any form of acknowledgment from Brooke as she cut the wheel of her car all crazy, causing her tires to screech before she skirted down the street.

Rayne sat in the living room with Winter and told her about the stunt Brooke pulled by announcing her pregnancy right at her door. Winter’s face was in a scowl as Rayne shook her head and downed the last sip of tea that Winter had brewed for her. A fifth of Hennessey sat on the end table next to Winter, who had pulled it out of her mint Michael Kors purse before Rayne could even begin telling her the news that sent shockwaves through her whole body. Winter had splashed a little of the brown liquor into each of their coffee mugs before giving Rayne the green light to spill the beans on the craziness that she began to associate with Brooke.

Winter was blown away by Rayne’s words and she didn’t want to believe that Brooke was pregnant. To Winter, it seemed like a desperate ploy to get Chase back.

“Damn Sis,” Winter finally broke the silence that took over the living room once Rayne dropped the bomb on her. “I don’t know Brooke; hell, I didn’t even know the bitch was standing outside your door right next to me. But, one thing I can say is, I don’t put nothing past any woman. I think it’s all a stunt to get Chase back,” Winter declared. She lifted her tea up to her lips and shook her head at the length some women would go to in order to keep a man.

Winter would much rather not love than deal with the bullshit that comes along with it. Rayne pursed her lips at the words her twin sister spoke. It was easy for Winter to say that because she wasn’t the one that had the displeasure of seeing the confirmation in plain sight. The pregnancy test displayed the word pregnant and Rayne could very well read. There was nothing she could do or say to dispute the ugly truth. Brooke was given yet another reason to be in Chase’s life.

“What are you going to do now?” Winter asked, as she grasped her sister’s hand and gave it a little squeeze. Rayne’s eyes were staring inside the empty coffee cup in her hand. Rayne blinked once, as if she was coming back from a deep day dream. She looked at Winter and her twin had a worried look on her face.

Rayne shrugged her shoulders and felt a little helpless. The only thing she could do was stick by Chase and do her all to show Brooke that she wasn’t getting him back so easily.

Rayne sighed and crossed her legs on the leather sectional. She leaned over and sat her coffee cup down on the carpet covered floor beneath her.

“I’m going to stand by my man. I can’t let Brooke win him back so easily, sis. A part of me is hurt, but I love Chase too much to allow the hurt I feel destroy what we fought so hard for.”

A jolt of excitement filled Winter and caused her to smile. Although she made it her mission to never fall in love, it was a good feeling to know Rayne wasn’t going to give up on her relationship with Chase.

“That’s what I like to hear.” Winter gave Rayne a warm smile.

Rayne smiled back weakly but, on the inside, she was still coming to terms with the fact that Chase would now father two children by Brooke. Rayne wasn’t giving up but she knew that maintaining her relationship with Chase wasn’t going to be easy.

“What are your plans for the day?” Rayne asked Winter.

Winter sipped her tea as she came up with a quick lie to tell her sister. “Well, since you switched out on our spa date, I’m going back home and get in the bed for a while. All I really want to do is layup and watch LMN all day anyway. It’s just one of those rainy kind of days,” she said, but her plans for the day had quickly changed to a lunch date with James at his place. The two of them had finally gotten a chance to get to know each other at Indigos and through numerous texts and phone calls. So, it was a plus when James messaged her right after Rayne decided to cancel their spa date. Fortunately for James, Winter liked the man that he presented himself to be. He was full of humor and he had charisma and charm that matched no other man that she’d ever been in contact with. The whole night they spent drinking and conversing, Winter had the image of him and Molly at the studio dancing in the back of her mind. The sight of him standing with his package swinging back and forth had her wanting to give him some in the worst way.

This was the perfect day for her to get a taste of what James had to offer. Winter had already decided that she wanted nothing more from James. Although she connected with him more than any other man, she wasn’t going to continue on with the pursuit of being his woman. All she really needed was to sample the dick that’s been on her mind since the incident at the studio.

Rayne cleared her throat and poked Winter, who had lost herself in her thoughts. She swallowed and checked the time on her phone.

“I’m actually on my way to meet James at Applebee’s. We’re having a lunch date.” Winter decided to tell half the truth.

Rayne’s eyes lit up in delight. She was so happy to hear the news of Winter and James hitting it off. She’d spoke to Winter for a little about their date at Indigos the other night, but Winter was always mum on her encounters with Rayne. Whereas Rayne held nothing back, Winter was more closeted about her relations with men. Every now and then, Rayne was given the pleasure of hearing about one of Winter’s past love interests. Since Winter never really searched for love in men, she didn’t feel the need to share her sexual partners with her family. In Winter’s mind, it wasn’t necessary to have her men meet the people that were closest to her heart.

“Do you like James?” Rayne asked her sister.

Winter nodded her head up and down. “Of course, I like him. I wouldn’t see him again if I didn’t.” Rayne shook her head like Winter didn’t understand her question.

“I mean, can you see yourself with him, in an actual relationship?” Rayne questioned.

Winter stood up. “Only time will tell, sis. For now, I’m just having fun.” Winter headed for the door. Rayne spoke to her back as she prepared to leave.

“You can’t run from love, Winter. One day, you will realize that.”

Winter exited Rayne’s condominium and hightailed her butt down the hall. She wasn’t ready for love but she
most certainly was ready for some of James, and she was on her way to get some of him now. Her clit jumped in anticipation of getting some of the long rod that he was blessed with. Unlike Rayne, she could care less about falling for a man.

Winter entered the number James texted her and the gate surrounding the large apartment building opened. Winter hummed to herself as she drove along the curve, until she located the parking lot James had told her to look out for. She parked in the parking lot of the large building and smiled as she stepped out of her car one foot at a time. Her five inch heels stabbed the gravel pavement as she walked to the glass double doors of the upscale apartment complex. An elderly doorman greeted Winter before questioning whom it was she was visiting. The doorman knew all of the tenants that stayed in the building and he had no memory of Winter’s beautiful face.

Winter was about to speak of James when he appeared from behind them and secured one of his arms around her waist. He had just checked his mail and held a small stack of it in his left hand. James fed Chase a lie to get out of work early. He and Winter made plans this morning to get together. Winter was eager to see his place and he had a feeling she wanted something more than just a tour of his apartment. Chase was pissed, but he allowed James to leave and head home for some rest.

“This is my friend Winter, Harry. You aren’t giving her a hard time, are you?” James joked.

Harry nodded his head and greeted Winter with a warm toothless smile, “A pleasure to meet you gorgeous.” Harry had seen many fine women come and go for James, but this young lady here had to be the finest one of them all. Winter gave Harry a small wave before James was pulling her with him towards the elevator. James couldn’t keep his eyes off of Winter. The gray pencil skirt and white crop top she was wearing gave him a semi hard on. Her body was nothing short of amazing. The curves of her shape had him wanting to lick her body from head to toe.
